At Sunbury we value reading and literature very highly.   Our library has in excess of 20 000  books and resources for students to borrow.  We enjoy an extensive staff library with the latest resources.  We have a parent library section too. Our library system is fully automated with the search facility available on all classroom computers.

Borrowing from our library provides students with a fabulous opportunity to develop a life long love of reading as they have access to both contemporary and classic texts.  Library borrowing time is timetabled weekly for each class as well students being encouraged to borrow before school and during lunch breaks. In addition our class teachers work collaboratively with the teacher librarian to develop specific lessons for each class throughout the year.

As part of our class pack scheme students are provided with a school library bag which is used to protect the books as well as teach students about the appropriate care for belongings. Students are not allowed to borrow unless they have this waterproof library bay.  Additional or replacement bags can be purchased through the office if lost or damaged.

Students in prep, years 1, 2 and 3 are encouraged to borrow 1 book at a time, but may borrow as many times as they like each week.  Students in year 4,5,6 and 7 are allowed to borrow 2 books at a time.

Each year we provide a significant budget to ensure that our library remains as a central focus for our school and we are fortunate to have high levels of P&C support.
