We value HOMEWORK as an integral part of the school program.  Completing homework provides the student with practise at organising and managing their own time and resources in their own environment.  It also provides them with an opportunity to practise and develop skills taught at school. We acknowledge that homework is one way for parents to keep track of their child’s learning progress.  Approximate times and task expectations across the week based on a five day week are as follows;

 J     Year one    5 - 10 minutes reading plus phonics search/sight words

J     Year two   10 minutes, reading, spelling and maths facts

J     Year three 15 minutes, reading, spelling and maths facts

J     Year four               15 minutes increasing to  20 including reading

J     Year five                20 minutes increasing to 30 including reading

J     Year six                 30 minutes increasing to 45 including reading

J     Year seven             30 minutes increasing to 60 including reading

 J    Types of work set will include reading and perhaps an accompanying task, practising spelling skills or strategies, practising maths facts, specific maths tasks and each term a major assignment may be set by the teacher.

J    Additional homework may be assigned if a student has unfinished class tasks where a reasonable amount of time was allocated.

J    Specialist teachers (LOTE, Music, HPE) may set additional homework or have the expectation that incomplete class work may be finished for homework.
